Get Active in Darebin this Winter

Get Active in Darebin is a FREE community-based exercise program aimed at increasing the physical activity and wellbeing levels of Darebin residents, as well as engaging under-represented groups into physical activity.

Darebin Community Sports Stadium and Narrandjeri Stadium in partnership with the City of Darebin encourages everyone to get active – so if you’re on a tight budget and are looking for free exercise options – come and join our FREE Social Pickleball, Table Tennis, and Walking Basketball programs with Get Active in Winter!

Most activities are catered for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels, and facilitated by qualified instructors and coaches. Bring your own water, towels and a mat (if required) and join in on the fun – just register below so we know how many of you are coming to each activity!

Must Register for free classes via the DarebinMOVES app

  1. Download the DarebinMOVES app if you haven’t already done so:

  2. Register and create an account
  3. Wait for approval* via email (*minimum 24 hours)
  4. Locate the Weekly Timetable for all free Get Active Autumn sessions (listed under the DarebinPLAY tile on the app homepage)
  5. Select Date – Program Name – Book NOW!

All bookings are listed within the app under the ‘My movement’ tab. The ‘My movement’ tab is the 2nd icon listed along the bottom of the apps homepage (see red arrow on screenshot).

All Abilities & Carers Pickleball 

Led by an experienced Pickleball player, we’re offering the opportunity for participants accompanied by their support worker and/or carer to come and learn the sport of Pickleball!

All ages welcome. Accessible parking and toilet facilities provided. No experience needed. Completely FREE.

Walking Basketball 

Walking Basketball is a low impact, social and fun way to improve your levels of physical activity. It is great for those who love basketball but might be intimidated by the pace and impact of the traditional game, offering a slower and more social alternative. All ages, abilities and genders are welcome.

Early Bird Pickleball

Everyone is invited to try Pickleball, the NEW racquet sport taking the world by storm. If you enjoy Badminton, Tennis and/ or Table Tennis then you’ll love this. We provide all the equipment you need so bring along a friend for a hit or make new friends on court. No experience needed.

Social Table Tennis

Play the beloved backyard game of Table Tennis at Narrandjeri Stadium. Whether you already play it at home and are looking for somewhere to test your skills out against others or you’re looking for a fun, social noncompetitive activity to play with friends or even want the opportunity to meet new people, this session has something for everyone. All tables and equipment are provided.
